Defective cap on charcoal filters

They seemed to be great at first. Then after a few months I noticed a funny taste in my water. I looked inside and noticed a little keychain ring had fallen inside and had started to rust. So I took it out and thought if these things were working like they should be I shouldn't have tasted anything. So I decided to take it apart and clean it. As I went to dump out the water I noticed that the charcoal filters just fell right out. Both of them had come loose from the cap end with the screw. I had my mom check hers to see if they were doing the same thing and sure enough they had. Very disappointed. Bad design I guess.
